Clear artwork requirements help turn a design into a consistent printed result. Before production, agree what will be printed, where it will appear and which proof will be used for approval.
Share the best available logo file
Send the original design file when available, together with a PDF or image showing the intended appearance. A screenshot can help explain an idea, but may not contain enough detail for printing. Ask which file formats and preparation steps are needed for your selected product and print process.
Specify the colours
State whether the design uses one colour or multiple colours. If your brand has an approved colour reference, include it with the brief. Screen colours are a guide rather than a promise of the finished print: the substrate, ink and printing method all affect the result.
Confirm size and position
Describe the desired position and approximate size in real measurements. Check the available print area and any restrictions near seams, handles, folds or curved surfaces. Ask whether small lettering, fine lines or reversed details need adjustment for the chosen process.
Review the proof carefully
Check spelling, contact details, logo proportions, colours, orientation and placement. Confirm whether the proof is a digital layout or a physical sample. A digital mock-up helps communicate positioning, while an agreed sample can help assess material and print appearance.
Approve one final version
Keep a clearly named final artwork file and a record of the approved proof. Confirm that it matches the product, quantity and quotation before production begins. If a change is needed after approval, ask how it affects the schedule and cost before proceeding.
